Integrated Testing of a 4-Bed Molecular Sieve and a Temperature-Swing Adsorption Compressor for Closed-Loop Air Revitalization

چکیده
Accumulation and subsequent compression of carbon dioxide that is removed from space cabin are two important processes involved in a closed-loop air revitalization scheme of the International Space Station (ISS). The 4-Bed Molecular Sieve (4BMS) of ISS currently operates in an open loop mode without a compressor. This paper reports the integrated 4BMS and liquid-cooled TSAC testing conducted during the period of March 3 to April 18, 2003. The TSAC prototype was developed at NASA Ames Research Center (ARC)'. The 4BMS was modified to a functionally flight-like pondition at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) . Testing was conducted at MSFC. The paper provides details of the TSAC operation at various COS loadings and corresponding performance of CDRA.

Nitrogen Adsorption on Molecular Sieve Zeolites: An Experimental and Modeling Study
Separation of nitrogen from a gaseous mixture is required for many industrial processes. In this study, the adsorption of nitrogen on zeolite 4A was investigated in terms of different adsorption isotherm models and kinetics. An increase in the initial pressure from 1 to 9 bar increases the amount of adsorbed nitrogen from 6.730 to 376.030 mg/(g adsorbent). The amount of adsorbed nitrogen increa...

The process of ethylene production from ethane dehydrogenation is one of the interesting processes in the field of conversion the petroleum light gases to the valuable products. In this process, the outlet gaseous product is a combination of ethylene, ethane and hydrogen. Effective separation techniques are required for separation of ethylene from unreacted ethane. Here a new adsorbent approach...
متن کاملInvestigation of carbon dioxide capture from hydrogen using the thermal pressure swing adsorption process: Central composite design modeling
In this study pre-combustion capture of carbon dioxide from hydrogen was performed using a 5A zeolite adsorber. A one column thermal pressure swing adsorption (TPSA) process was studied in the bulk separation of a CO2/H2 mixture (50:50 vol%). The adsorption dynamics of the zeolite bed were investigated by breakthrough experiments to select the suitable range for operational factors in the desig...

The synthesis of citronellyl butyrate by direct esterification reaction catalyzed by immobilized lipase from Candida rugosa was studied in a continuous packed bed reactor using n-hexane as organic solvent. Parameters such as residence time, temperature, and pH were examined. The optimum conversion was obtained at a flow rate of 1 ml/min (residence time 8 min), temperature of 50 °C, and pH 7.5. ...
